Moving resources

Moving checklist, inventory planner, and room label guide.

Use these tools before move day so loading, unloading, and unpacking feel more organized.

Safety planning

Keep these items with you or make a separate plan.

Some things are not safe or practical to load on a moving truck. Set these aside before move day so nothing important gets packed by mistake.

Do not load on the truck

  • Propane tanks, gasoline, lighter fluid, paint thinner, fireworks, ammunition, and flammable items.
  • Cleaning chemicals, pool chemicals, bleach, pesticides, aerosols, and pressurized containers.
  • Plants, pets, animals, perishable food, open food, and refrigerated or frozen items.

Keep personally with you

  • Medication, medical devices, oxygen tanks, toiletries, and immediate care items.
  • Cash, jewelry, passports, birth certificates, deeds, titles, checkbooks, and important records.
  • Irreplaceable family items, chargers, keys, and anything you need the first night.

Labeling system

Label by room for faster unloading and easier unpacking.

Room labels help the crew place boxes where they belong, which saves time and keeps your new home from becoming one big pile of boxes.

Kitchen 1Fragile | Open first
Primary Bedroom 2Clothes | Normal
Office 1Computer items | Fragile
Garage 3Tools | Heavy

Inventory planning

A simple inventory can prevent confusion later.

You do not need a perfect spreadsheet. A room, box number, contents, and priority note is enough to make move day smoother.

Room Label Contents Priority Notes
Kitchen Kitchen 1 Dishes, glasses, silverware Open first Fragile
Primary bedroom Bedroom 1 Bedding and nightstand items Open first Place by bed
Specialty Antique cabinet Glass shelves and hardware High Send photos before move day
